Administrative/Professional Staff Positions

Instructional Design Specialist

ECC has an opening for an Instructional Design Specialist to assist faculty in course design and technical support; work with streaming video courses; assist with course implementation and specialized computer programming related to the learning management system; assist in technical support of simulations. This position will assist the Instructional Designer in all aspects of learning management system support.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field plus one year related work experience; Master’s degree preferred. A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Successful candidates must have knowledge of relevant computer hardware, software and applications. PHP and MySQL programming/database experience preferred. Salary: $30,965; commensurate with experience.

Division Chair, Science & Math

East Central College, a comprehensive community college located in Union, Missouri, has an anticipated opening for a Division Chair, Science and Mathematics. The Chair oversees faculty and staff of the following programs: biology, chemistry, mathematics, biotechnology, physics, physical science and pre-engineering.

Primary duties include providing leadership in the area of teaching and learning for faculty in the academic unit and guiding faculty in the assessment of student learning. Additional duties include managing departmental budgets, overseeing all adjunct faculty in the disciplines, evaluating faculty and staff, managing material purchases related to programming in the unit, teaching one (1) course per semester, and representing the unit both internally and externally.

Qualifications: A minimum of a Master’s degree in a discipline within the division, a terminal degree preferred; college level teaching experience, strong communication skills, experience in working with community college students, faculty and staff; administrative experience required.

Anticipated Start Date: August 2010. Application review to begin January 11, 2010.

Accounts Payable Specialist

Seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to perform a variety of accounting/clerical tasks related to the processing and maintenance of accounts payable records, invoices, etc. Essential tasks include review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment. Process purchase orders with invoices, process accounts receivables including student refunds, direct loans, and pell grants. Minimum qualifications include Associate’s degree plus one year related experience; a comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Successful candidates will be proficient in computer programs including Colleague, Windows XP, Word, Excel and Outlook, have a general understanding of accounting practices and principles, and have excellent customer service skills. Salary: $11.06/hour.

Learning Center Tutors: The Learning Center is seeking students to fill the following tutor positions: Biology A&P, Chemistry, English/Writing Skills, and Mathematics/College Algebra. To be a tutor in the Learning Center, a student must have completed the course for which they wish to tutor with a grade of A or B, have an overall GPA of 3.0, and receive faculty recommendation letters. The recommendation letters must contain information about the applicant’s academic ability, responsibility, professionalism and communication skills. Primary duties of a tutor are providing tutorial assistance to students who are seeking help outside the classroom, one-on-one supplemental instruction and/or assist students with questions or problems resulting from homework or various assignments, and more.
