The soccer team came back from a 3-0 deficit early in the second half against Jefferson College Wednesday (October 7) and tied the match at 4-4 with less than 7 minutes to play, but couldn’t hold off the visiting Vikings in a 5-4 conference loss.
Jefferson scored the lone goal in a defense dominated first half. After falling behind 3-0, ECC rallied on two quick goals by Jacob Moore. Jeffco scored again to take the 4-2 lead, but ECC answered on a penalty kick by Jake Erwin and a game typing goal by Matt Hampton. The Vikings took the lead for good with a slow roller into the goal. Jindu Isreal-Bolarinwa provided two assists in the loss with Alejandro Garcia assisting on one of Moore’s goals.
ECC (11-2-1) travels to Neosho Saturday for a 2 p.m. match against Crowder College. The Falcons were ranked #11 in the National Soccer Coaches Association poll released October 6, but fell from the NJCAA poll.
