Getting your certificate of high school equivalency is not as difficult as you may think. Preparation is the key.

Let us help you succeed.

The HISET® exam, the new alternative in Missouri to the GED® test, can help you achieve your state-issued high school equivalency credential.

Program Procedure

  • Complete assessment for an individualized lesson plan.

  • Attend AEL classes where you can improve your reading and math skills, learn to write an essay and develop test-taking strategies.  Free sample questions, practice tests and tips to help you get ready for the exam are also available at http://hiset.ets.org/prepare/overview

  • Talk with your instructor to determine if you are ready to test.

  • Create your HiSET account and schedule your appointment online for testing.  ECC in Union is a designated test center.

The cost of the new test is $95, (a $60 registration fee for the cost of the test and $7 for each of the five test sections to cover the costs of administering the test).  Because you do not have to complete the entire test at one time, you can take the test in sections.

The $60 registration fee will allow you to test three times during a 12-month period. If you do not pass the test the first time you can retake the entire test or any of the test sections two more times within the 12-month period by paying an additional $7-per-section fee.

  • Do your best on the test!

If you have any questions, please contact your site instructor or the Adult Education and Literacy office at 636-584-6533 or email:  ael@eastcentral.edu.
