High School Equivalency Testing

Before you schedule an appointment to take the HiSET® exam, please read the following information carefully so you understand the process and policies.

 

Eligibility

 

To take the HiSET exam in the state of Missouri, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

 

  • Age: You must be at least 16 years of age and out of high school to take the HiSET exam. If you are 16 years of age, you must also have completed at least 16 units toward high school graduation.
  • Residency: You must be a resident of Missouri to take the HiSET exam.
  • Test Preparation or Instruction: Missouri does not have any test preparation or instruction requirements to take the initial test. However, they do encourage instruction before testing.
  • Identification: You must present identification on test day at the HiSET test center. A valid permanent or temporary Missouri license (Driver, Nondriver, Intermediate, Commercial or Instruction (learners) permit), U.S. passport, or U.S. military ID. Outdated or expired identification will not be accepted. The name on the identification MUST match the name used when the tester registered for the HiSET.

Test Centers and Dates

 

You can search for test centers near you at any time, and you can find available test dates and times online through your HiSET account.  See more about finding test centers and dates.

 

Disability Accommodations

 

If you have a disability or health-related need and require testing accommodations, you must request your accommodations through ETS before you schedule an appointment. The approval process can take six weeks or more, so be sure to allow enough time before your desired test date. See Disability Accommodations.

Scheduling Your Test

 

Once you are ready to take the test, you can schedule your testing appointment online through your HiSET account.  You can take all five tests in one day if the test center has availability, or you can schedule them across more than one day. You can take the five tests in any order. Be sure to read the policies on rescheduling, canceling or retaking the test as well. See Scheduling Your Test.

 

NOTE FOR BATTERY PURCHASERS: When you purchase all five subtests at one time in a battery, the purchase expires after 12 months. For more information, see What is the HiSET Battery?
