East Central College offers a program of study leading to an Associates of Applied Science in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Students will learn the basics of installation, maintenance, and repair, preparing them to enter the workforce as technicians. People have always sought ways to make their environment more comfortable. Today's air conditioning and heating systems control the temperature, humidity, and cleanliness of the air in homes, offices, factories, and schools. Controlling the environment is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. Modern refrigeration systems make it possible to safely store food, drugs, and other perishable items. Energy efficiency and the cost of operation of HVAC/R equipment affects us all as a society and individuals.


East Central offers two tracks in HVAC/R including a Day and and Evening part-time option.  Please consult degree plans and meet with the ECC HVAC/R Program Coordinator/Instructor for advisement.

Program Mission Statement:

East Central College's HVAC/R Program is a career-based education/skill learning format for students planning a serious future as a professional technician in the field of heating/air conditioning/refrigeration. As one of the technical education programs in a community college venue, we will provide affordable, quality training by qualified instructors. Since the HVAC/R industry is a dynamic field, the program will continuously update and revise curriculum, training methods, equipment and staff to keep our students the choice of regional employers.


Program Requirements:


  • Completed an Application for Admission to East Central College and declare HVAC/R as the program
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Once admitted, meet with the HVAC/R Program Coordinator/Instructor for program advisement
