Engineering
Our mission is to develop problem solving skills and subject matter competencies through
effective educational methods.
The Engineering program at East Central College offers students the opportunity to
complete the first two years of engineering and general education classes before transferring
to their chosen University. Our students may transfer to any 4 year engineering program
but they benefit from two articulation agreements, one with Missouri University of
Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) and the other with South East Missouri State
University.
One program of study is an AS in Transfer Engineering. This degree includes the basic
physics and calculus classes, as well as upper level science and engineering electives.
Our students participate in classroom design and robotics projects. ECC awards the
AS degree allowing students to focus on any of 15 different fields of engineering.
Students may earn their BS in Engineering at their transfer institution.
The AA in Engineering Technology (SEMO articulation) is another degree offered. This
program includes basic calculus, physics and chemistry classes as well as hands on
mechanical and electrical classes in state of the art facilities. Students may earn
their BS in Engineering Technology at their transfer institution.
Our Faculty promote:
- Lifelong learning through the use of traditional and new teaching methods, technology,
laboratory experience and course assessments.
- They ensure that all students have a set of fundamental skills necessary for their
future coursework at their transfer institution. These skills should include the following:
a) presentation skills; b) laboratory skills; c) computer skills; and d) problem-solving
skills.
- Student interaction through group projects, field trips and the ECC Engineering Club
