Short-term Non-credit Welding


The Introduction to MIG Welding program provides an introduction to the Gas Metal Arc Welding process, also known as MIG Welding. Through hands-on applications, students will reinforce lessons and learn to apply practical knowledge. Welding is a high demand field with a large number of manufacturers in the area.

Successful students will earn a Certificate of Completion in Introductory MIG Welding.

This program includes:

  • Basic Welding Terminology
  • MIG Welding Techniques
  • Operating MIG Welding Equipment
  • MIG Filler Materials and Shielding Gases
  • MIG Power Sources
  • Types of Metal Transfer
  • Types of Joints
  • Minor Equipment Maintenance

Program cost is $995. Cost includes welding jacket, helmet/face guard, gloves and textbook. Students are required to wear ankle-high leather or steel-toed boots.

The short-term program is offered at ECC’s Business and Industry Center.
