As a public, co-educational community college, ECC maintains an open-door policy of accepting all students interested in obtaining a college education.

The College offers a select group of academic programs where admission is limited and competitive. Admission to the College does not guarantee admission to those specific programs since those might have requirements regarding prerequisites, cumulative grade point averages and/or test scores, criminal background checks, or drug screenings.

A high school diploma or the equivalent is required for admission. Applicants for admission who did not graduate from high school or earn a high school equivalency certificate may be admitted on the following conditions: 1) the student must enroll in Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) classes to work toward a high school equivalency certificate the first semester a major field of study is declared, and 2) the student must complete a high school equivalency certificate or high school diploma and present evidence to the Registration Office before receiving a college degree or certificate.

Please note that students without a high school diploma or the equivalent are not eligible for financial aid.

Information on the Adult Education and Literacy program to prepare for the high school equivalency exam is available here.
