The mission of East Central College Library is to provide the educational, recreational and informational resources to it's community. The library is open to all for browsing. Please respect yourself, respect others and respect the space when using the library.
There are 37,000 books, 285 journal subscriptions and over 1000 audio/visual materials (including VHS, DVD, CDs and audio books) in the library, all searchable through our online catalog.
Students need a current student ID to check out materials from the library. A maximum of 10 items (4 audio/visual) is allowed. Most items may be renewed one time in person, by phone or online. All items must be returned by the due date. Failure to return items may result in restrictions placed on student's account.
Community members (residents of the College district) may check out materials with their Missouri state ID. A maximum of 6 items (4 audio/visual) is allowed. Most items may be renewed one time in person or by phone.

Many online resources, including full-text articles, are available through our catalog and online databases.
Instructor's Reserve Collection may include old exams, books, study materials, or other supplemental items. Most items are at the circulation desk, others are free online through the catalog, while other have restricted online access (nursing reserves) Check out periods vary from Library Use Only to 1 week.
The library can help with research assistance or reference questions.
Tours and instruction are available as one on one or group sessions.
Books or journal articles not available at ECC can be requested from other libraries. For books use MOBIUS to submit a request. The book will be delivered to ECC in 2-3 days. For articles first try our online databases. If the book or article is not available submit an Interlibrary Loan request at the circulation desk. Interlibrary Loan requests may take 7-14 days to arrive at ECC.
The library has over 20 computers and laptops for use within the library. All computers include internet access and Microsoft Office Suite. Personal laptops can be used within the library and access the internet through ECC's wireless network. The wireless network is available to students, staff and faculty with a current eCentral login.
The library provides seating for 100 in a variety of study areas including individual study, tables and casual seating.
The library conference room can be reserved for meetings, interviews, or training sessions for individuals or groups associated with East Central College. The room will seat 19 comfortably and is available hours the library is open. Please e-mail Linda Hall to make a reservation. Complete Library Conference Room policy is available online.
The library houses two special collections, The Lincoln Collection and the Children's Literature Collection.
Friends of the Library was established to encourage literary interests and provide support to the Library. A small cart at the front door offers books, magazines and other materials for sale; at least once a year a larger book sale is held in the AD Lobby. Hardbacks are $1, paperbacks 50 cents and 25 cents for a magazine. All funds support Friends of the Library.
The library has two self service photocopiers. Copies cost 10 cents a page.
Back issues of selected magazines and the New York Times (1859-2002) are available on microfilm. A microfilm reader/printer is available for research.
The College's historic documents and institutional publications are archived in the library.
