Electronic Devices

East Central College Library has a variety of electronic devices available for check-out. Our electronic devices are restricted to current ECC students, staff, and faculty. A valid college ID is required for check out and library account must be in good standing. Due to limited inventory and high demand, each device accrues a $5.00 a day late fee.  Additional information is available on each device by clicking on the name.

Kindle: 3 readers and 3 Fires are available for four-week checkout. Each Kindle has over 60 titles preloaded. USB cord is included, A/C adapter is included with Fires and available for readers. Complete list of titles and availability can be found in the Archway catalog.

Nook: 2 touch readers, 1 color reader, 1 tablet and 2 HDs are available for four-week checkout. USB cord is included, A/C adapter is included with tablet and HDs and available for readers. Each Nook has over 60 titles preloaded. Complete list of titles and availability can be found in the Archway catalog.

Laptop: Dell laptops are available for two-day checkout. Mouse and power cord are included. A $5.00 cash deposit is required upon check out. Microsoft Office products are included. Check availability at the Library Service Desk.

iPad: Four iPad Air 2 are available for two-day checkout. Headphones, USB cord, A/C adapter are included. A $5.00 cash deposit is required upon check out. A variety of apps are included. Check availability in the Archway catalog.

Renewals and Returns: Renewals are not allowed at this time due to limited inventory. Devices come with a variety of accessories. All devices must be returned within 15 minutes of closing time and to Library staff to not accrue a late fine. There is a 24-hour turnaround time for all devices when they are returned.

Fines and Damages: You are responsible for devices and accessories while it’s checked out to you. Devices not returned within 3 business days of the due date will result in a hold being placed on your student account. Devices not returned within the allotted time will result in contacting the Union Police to report the item stolen due to nonreturn to the Library.

Assessment of fines and damages

  • $5.00 a day late fee, your deposit will be retained and the rest can be paid via cash, credit, or check to Cashier
  • $900 – replacement fee for Laptop & processing fee ($100)
  • $600 – replacement fee for iPad & processing fee ($100)
  • $50 each – carry case, power cord, battery, protective sleeve, iPad keyboard
  • $10 – mouse, headphones, screen protector
  • Damage to device: actual repair costs
