Works by lithographer Kyle Chaput are currently on display in the ECC Art Gallery.

The exhibit will conclude with a public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 15.

A member of the art faculty at Garden City Community College since August of 2011, Chaput previously taught at Texas A and M University in Corpus Christi where he earned a master’s degree in fine arts in 2010. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree in 2007 from Fort Hays State University.

Chaput was born and raised in Salina, Kansas. He became interested in art at a young age when he would mimic the caricatures and cartoons his father sketched for him. A high school teacher told him graphic design was the future for studio arts, so he followed that path for more than two years at Fort Hays State. Chaput noted that was not really where he wanted to go with his career. With the applications on the computer he decided that was more of a tool to use within the studio arts and not a means to an end.

The ECC Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and when performances are held in the John Edson Anglin Performing Arts Center.

Following the reception with Chaput February 15, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra cellist Alvin McCall will perform. He will be joined by violist Anna Lackshewita, violinist Ann Hirschl and pianist Jennifer Judd for the 7:30 p.m. which will feature works by Johannes Brahms.

Tickets for that concert can be reserved by calling 636-584-6693 or Click here to purchase tickets.  One hour prior to the concert tickets will also be sold at the door.  Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for students 12 and younger.  Patrons of the Arts, season pass holders and ECC students are admitted at no charge.
