The East Central College Friends of the Library will hold their semi-annual book sale Monday, February 4, through Thursday, February 7.

The sale will be held on the first floor of Buescher Hall on ECC’s Union campus from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. each day.

Lisa Farrell, director of library services at ECC, noted that all items will be sold for $1 or less.  Only cash or checks will be accepted.

“The first Friends of the Library book sale was held in 1986 and continued until 2010 when the Administration Building where the Library was housed was shut down for renovation,” said Farrell.  “Over that 25 year span more than $35,000 was raised, with the money used to keep the collection of books and magazines current.”

The 2013 sale will include gently used books including fiction titles, non-fiction, children’s books as well as books on diet, exercise and numerous other topics.  A variety of cookbooks and hobby magazines will be available, along with a small selection of DVDs and music CDs.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to supplement the library’s DVD collection and various activities throughout the year.   The next sale will be held in July.

There are 25,000 books, 150 journal subscriptions and over 1,500 audio/visual materials, including DVDs, CDs and audio books, in the ECC Library.  All are searchable through an online catalog .

While the Library is a resource for ECC students, residents of the East Central College district may also check out materials after completing a community member application and showing their Missouri state ID.
