Members of the East Central College board of trustees authorized college officials to renew existing leases for three off-campus locations for the coming year.  The action came at the board’s June 10 meeting.

 

The amount paid to lease a facility in Sullivan will increase $154 per month starting July 1.  The annual rate paid to Central Markets for the 5,800 square foot facility will total $21,876 for the new fiscal year.  The last increase was two years ago. 

 

The lease for approximately 11,000 square feet of space at Four Rivers Career Center in Washington remains unchanged for the coming year with the college paying $75,000 to the Washington School District.  The agreement with the Rolla School District for 8,140 square feet of spaceat Rolla Technical Center will also remain the same at $145,530.

 

Trustees also approved the renewal of two professional service agreements effective July 1.  Legal services will again be provided by Tueth, Keeney, Cooper, Mohan & Jackstadt, P.C. of St. Louis.       

 

Auditing services will continue to be performed by the firm of Davis, Lynn and Moots based in Springfield, MO.  Cost of the audit for fiscal year 2014 will total $43,400.      

 

Due to the scheduling of upcoming board meetings, trustees also pre-authorized purchases that will need to be made with funds from state vocational enhancement grants prior to the start of the fall semester August 14.  Authorization was also given for purchases to be made with funding from the Missouri Health WINs, Missouri Manufacturing WINs and the Graduate! St. Louis grant programs.

 

Personnel

 

Several personnel matters were also approved at the June 10 meeting.

 

The board accepted the resignation of Megen Poynter, admissions director, effective June 14.  Poynter has accepted a position as undergraduate student mentor with Western Governors University.   

 

Trustees approved the appointment of Tammy Stowe as coordinator of manufacturing outreach.  The new position is funded through the Missouri Manufacturing WINs grant.

 

Stowe has served as Executive Director of the Union Area Chamber of Commerce since 2002.  Prior to that position she was grant administrator for the City of Union from 200 0 to 2001. 

 

After earning an associate of arts degree from ECC, Stowe went on to DePaul University in Chicago where she obtained a bachelor of science degree in commerce.

 

Tina Brueggemann, a specialist in the ECC’s Learning Center since 2010, was hired to coordinate testing services.  Brueggemann obtained a bachelor’s degree in mathematics/secondary education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.  Prior to ECC she taught in the Rockwood School District and at St. John the Baptist School in Villa Ridge.

 

The appointment of Goldie Gildehaus as coordinator of Student Activities was also approved.  For the past four months Gildehaus has been retention/career service specialist at East Central.  Prior to her arrival at ECC, Gildehaus spent five years as assistant director of marketing and leadership at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  She was assistant director of student activities at Missouri State University in Springfield from 2005 to 2007.  Gildehaus obtained an MBA from MSU in 2005, and also earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from that institution.
