To help area residents discover the educational opportunities available locally, East Central College will host “Explore ECC” on Thursday, June 13.  The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. in Buescher Hall on the campus in Union.

Faculty members who teach classes in a variety of  programs related to science, business , computer information systems, education,  graphic design, allied health and many other fields will be on hand.   Academic advisers will outline the admissions and registration process.

The free event provides an opportunity for the general public, especially potential students and their families, to find out more about ECC and the programs and services that are available. Visitors can get information about all of the College’s credit programs, as well as short-term training options in certified nurse assistant and certified medication technician.

“Explore East Central College is designed for individuals to learn about the opportunities available,” noted Erin Anglin, associate director of ECC’s Learning Center.  “We encourage recent high school graduates to attend, as well as forward-thinking juniors and returning adult learners who might be between jobs or underemployed.”

ECC staff will be available to provide information on college costs and financial aid options.  ECC is currently participating in two U.S. Department of Labor grants that focus on educating more students in health services, health science, and advanced manufacturing.  College employees will explain the opportunities possible through those grants.

There is no cost to attend the event.  For more information, call ECC at 636-584-6741.
