The Transfer Engineering Department at East Central College will host the annual Math and Science Career Night for high school students from the area on Wednesday, October 23.  The annual event is co-sponsored by Missouri University of Science & Technology and will be presented from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Training Center on the ECC campus in Union.

Dr. Barry Bookout, professor of pre-engineering at ECC, noted that students from area high schools and their parents have been invited to attend based on recommendations from their high school teachers.  However, any high school age students who might be interested in math and science are welcome and encouraged to attend.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for students and their parents to learn about the many career opportunities in fields related to science, engineering and mathematics,” said Bookout.  “During the evening, students will have the opportunity to individually meet with faculty and students from both ECC and S&T.”   Bookout encourages attendees to arrive early to gather information prior to the formal program.
