East Central College in Rolla will host its annual Showcase highlighting many of its career and technical programs Thursday, February 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at its location in the Rolla Technical Center at 500 Forum Drive.


ECC faculty members who teach classes in biotechnology, business, chemical technology, education, nursing (RN), and occupational therapy assistant will be on hand, along with instructors from the radiologic technology and respiratory care partnership programs between RTC and East Central. 


Other programs that will be showcased at the free event include EMT/paramedic, fire and rescue, licensed practical nursing, and surgical technology offered through Rolla Technical Center. Information on the dental hygiene program offered at RTC by Missouri Southern State University will also be available.


The Showcase provides an opportunity for the general public, especially potential students and their families, to find out more about ECC and the other education options available in Rolla. Visitors can get information about all of the college’s credit programs, including information on starting coursework toward a four-year degree at ECC before transferring to a college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree.


“This event is designed to give people the chance to explore the opportunities available, whether coming from high school or as a returning adult learner who is between jobs or is underemployed,” noted Rachael Calvin, coordinator of enrollment services .


Staff will be on hand to provide information on college costs and financial aid options.  Families interested in getting help with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid can get assistance with that between 5 and 6:30 p.m.    


Instructors will also be available to discuss the Conservation Careers Camp for students in grades 8-12 which is scheduled to be held this summer at ECC in Rolla.
