East Central College trustees voted unanimously to award a two-year contract extension to College President Dr. Jon Bauer. The new contract, approved following an executive session at the board’s July 14 meeting, will run through June 30, 2017.

Bauer is starting the final year of a three-year contract he signed when he became ECC president July 1, 2012.

Jim Perry, chairman of the board of trustees, stated that Dr. Bauer has provided good leadership in the two years he has served as president. “His many years of experience at ECC prior to becoming president have been invaluable in the smooth operation of the organization and the administration of the college budget,” Perry said. “Dr. Bauer is extremely active in the community on behalf of the college, and he is highly respected by his peers throughout Missouri."

“It is an honor and privilege to serve as President of East Central College,” Bauer said. “I look forward to continuing to serve in this role and working with our faculty, staff and students for the betterment of the institution.” Bauer noted that he appreciates the support of the trustees and enjoys working with each of them. “I admire the commitment they have to East Central College,” he said.

Bauer is the college’s sixth president, succeeding Donald Shook, Charles Novak, Dale Gibson, Karen Herzog and Ed Jackson. On two occasions Fred Davis served as interim president of the college.
