A number of East Central College staff members were recognized by the ECC Faculty Association for their role in helping faculty members do their job.

At the April faculty meeting, instructional design coordinator Chad Baldwin and the entire maintenance and custodial staff were presented with gift cards and artwork created by

graphic design instructor Sean Barton.

In making the presentation, Jean McCann, vice president of instruction at ECC, stated that Baldwin totally understand his commitment to the support of student learning.  “Chad is responsive, helpful, supportive, dedicated and most of all a great listener,” noted McCann.

“He has the incredible ability to take technical things to the level of his stakeholders.  Once

he understands the need, he can then help each of the distance learning faculty discover

better tools and design to help students in their online experience.”  McCann stated that

Baldwin has nearly singlehandedly grown the college’s online and hybrid course delivery program.

McCann also highlighted the work done by the grounds, maintenance and custodial staff

under the leadership of Mark Eaton, ECC director of facilities and grounds.  “When things

are broken, they get fixed and when floors need cleaning, they get scrubbed,” she said.

“Their leader, Mark Eaton, understands that for the faculty to do their job well, his staff

needs to do their jobs well.”

McCann stated that Eaton and his staff are gracious, helpful and supportive.  “He has taken

on the thankless job of making sure all of us are aware, trained and able to handle

emergency situations,” McCann noted.  “Never complaining and always making certain that

the job is done right, Mark understands customer service.”

Following the meeting a reception was held with food prepared by ECC culinary arts
