A course designed to introduce the student to his or her home welder and its related functions.

WL 1011 1.0
Welding I Lec(Intro)
An introduction to oxygen-acetylene brazing, cutting, and electric arc welding. The study of safety in oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding is also included.
Prerequisite: None. Corequisite: WL 1014

Welding I Lab(Intro)
An introduction to oxygen-acetylene brazing, cutting, and electric are welding. The study of safety in oxy-acetylene and electric are welding is also included.

WL 1021 1.0
Wldg II Lec(All Position SMAW)
A continuation of Welding I, stressing all-position shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). The study of the weldability of metals, joint design, filler metal selection, plasma arc cutting and carbon arc gouging is also included.
Prerequisite: WL 1011 WL 1014. Corequisite: WL 1024

Welding II Lab(All Position SMAW)
A continuation of Welding I, stressing all- position shielded metal are welding (SMAW). The study of the weldability of metals, joint design, filler metal selection, plasma arc cutting and carbon arc gouging is also included.
Prerequisite: WL 1011, WL 1014. Corequisite: WL 1021

WL 1031 1.0
Welding III Lec(Adv SMAW)
A course which stresses the skills in SMAW of groove welds in the IG, 2G, 3G, 4G and 45 positions. The study of welding codes, standards, heat treating, metallurgy, testing and inspecting of all welds.
Prerequisite: WL 1021, WL 1024. Corequisite: WL 1034

WL 1034 4.0
Welding III Lab-(Advanced SMAW)
A course which stresses the skills in SMAW of groove welds in the 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and 45 positions. The study of welding codes and standards, and testing and inspecting of welds will also be covered.
Prerequisite: WL 1021, WL 1024. Corequisite: WL 1031

WL 1041 1.0
Welding IV Lec(GMAW)
A course which stresses the development of skills in GMAW of fillet and groove welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions. GMAW and FCAW equipment, setup and operation and shielding gases are among the topics to be discussed.
Prerequisite: WL 1031, WL 1034. Corequisite: WL 1044

WL 1044 4.0
Welding IV Lab GMAW
A course which stresses the development of skills in GMAW of fillet and groove welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions. GMAW and FCAW equipment, setup and operation and shielding gases are among the topics to be discussed.
Prerequisite: WL 1031, WL 1034. Corequisite: WL 1041

Wldg VI(Blueprint Rdg)
A course which includes the fundamentals of print reading, welding symbols, and related information on a blueprint in construction and various welding fields.

Wldg V Lec-GTAW
A course which stresses the development of skills in the GTAW of fillet and groove welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions. GTAW equipment, setup and operation, shielded gases and automation and robotics are among the topics to be discussed.
Prerequisite: WL 1041, WL 1044, or consent of instructor. Corequisite: WL 2014

Welding V Lab GTAW
A course which stresses the development of skills in the GTAW of fillet and groove welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions. GTAW equipment, setup and operation, shielded gases and automation and robotics are among the topics to be discussed.
Prerequisite: WL 1041, WL 1044. Corequisite: WL 2011

WL 2021 1.0
Wldg VII Lec(Pipe Welding)
A course which stresses the development of pipe welding skills in the 2G, 5G, and 6G positions. Making templates and using them on pipe joints and saddles is also included. Students will receive basic exposure to SAW (submerge arc welding).
Prerequisite: WL 2011, WL 2014, WL 1053. Corequisite: WL 2024

Welding VII Lab Pipe Wldg
A course which stresses the development of pipe welding skills in the 2G, 5G, and 6G positions. Making templates and using them on pipe joints and saddles is also included.
Prerequisite: WL 2011, WL 2014, WL 1053. Corequisite: WL 2021

WL 2031 1.0
Welding VIII(Adv Grad Proj)
Under the supervision of the instructor the student will build a project which will require the knowledge and skills from all previous welding courses. The student will also be required to write a research paper.
Prerequisite: WL 2021, WL 2024 and have completed English requirements for degree.

WL 2065 5.0
Wldg XI-Wldg Internship
A course designed for on-the-job-training at local welding shops to provide the student with opportunities to use competencies developed in the classroom and laboratory. Emphasis is on preparation for full-time employment.
Prerequisite: WL 1011, WL 1014, WL 1021, WL 1024, WL 1031, WL 1034, WL 1041, WL 1044, WL 2011, WL 2014, WL 2021, WL 2024, WL 1053

WL 2701-2705 1.0-5.0
I.S.-Welding
A specialized program of study directly related to the department's area of expertise. The course is arranged between a faculty member and student and takes into consideration the needs, interests and background of the student.
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor

WL 2711-2715 1.0-5.0
Spec Topics-Welding
Courses are offered to accommodate special interests of students and/or faculty. Typically, the course will cover new material not currently contained in the curriculum at ECC.
