This community education class provides senior citizens with a semester membership to the ECC Fitness Center at the main campus in Union. An individualized exercise program will be developed based on fitness assessments. Participants must utilize a specially designated hour from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. each weekday. This time will emphasize improving the physical fitness component of flexibility, which will lead to an increase in range of motion and increased mobility. Students must be at least 55 years of age to participate.

This program is designed to prepare you for today's job market by exposing you to a wide variety of skills and resources. The program will include instruction in software basics and administrative skills reflective of a seasoned professional. Learn or upgrade your skills in Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Essential skills will also be reviewed in ethics, problem solving, communication, customer service, business and report writing, file and project management, and interviewing. Through the review of case studies and hands-on applications, you will reinforce lessons and learn to apply practical knowledge to everyday situations. This program will give you the know-how to complete tasks and expose them to multiple resources available to enhance job performance. Please inquire regarding tuition funding opportunities! This program is designed to prepare individuals to become a Certified Medication Technician. This program meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirement to take the state exam. The student must be a working CNA for at least 6 months. In addition to the classroom work the student will experience 8-16 hours of job shadowing with a licensed CMT, LPN, or RN and 8 hours of clinical practice. Upon completion of both classroom and clinical components, the student will be eligible to take the Missouri state exam to become a licensed CMT. This program is entirely funded by the Missouri Health Wins grant for eligible students. Student must complete program information packet prior to registering. Entry into the program must be approved by Program Coordinator. Student must also enroll in Math Review for CMT students. Instructor: Connie Manion

This half-day seminar will present information on diabetes as it relates to symptoms and treatment and will teach skills in insulin administration in order to qualify current CMTs to perform this procedure in long-term care facilities in Missouri. The course consists of 4 hours of instruction and includes a written final and practicum examination under the direct supervision of an instructor. Instructor: Connie Manion

If you meet special criteria you are not required to take the entire Certified Nurse Assistant course, but rather will be allowed to take just the final examination (written and practical) to become a CNA in Missouri. You must have approval from the Department of Health and Senior Services and register with ECC Center for Workforce Development. You will be required to complete the CWD Information packet. This program is designed to prepare individuals to care for clients in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and home health agencies. The course will consist of approximately 50 hours of classroom training, approximately 25 hours of on-line coursework, and 100 hours of supervised clinical training. Upon completion of both components, the student will be eligible to take the final exam to become a Certified Nurse Assistant through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Students must be 18 years of age at the start of the program. Student must complete program information packet before registering. Entry into the program must be approved by Program Coordinator.
