Veterans
We thank you for your service to our country. Now is our chance to serve you.
Veterans are a special group of students who come to us with their own skills, experience and background. We take pride in assisting our area veterans to enhance the skills they have or learn the new skills needed to completed a certificate and/or degree.
We know a Veteran needs and wants different types of services and programs, and we have an employee who works directly with Veterans. We also have a dedicated space, a Student Veteran’s Lounge, for them to rest and relax while on campus.
Enrollment Checklist for Veteran Students

Submit Application for Admissions
- Submit an Application for Admission.
- Submit your military transcripts.
- Request Army, Navy, or Marines transcript.
- Request Air Force transcript.
- Submit your DD-214.
- Complete additional documentation (if requested by Admissions).

Request All Official Transcripts (High School Equivalency, High School, Homeschool, College)
Send to the Admissions Office at our main campus by one of the following methods:

Activate MyECC Student Account
- Watch email for instructions.
- Use the information to access MyECC, ECC Email, Canvas and Watermark (Aviso).
- The college sends most information electronically. Make it a habit to check ECC Email often.

Apply for Financial Aid
- Apply for Veterans Benefits including tuition assistance, grants, and scholarships.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the ECC Scholarship Application. ECC’s School Code is 008862.
- Refer to the Financial Aid Checklist for detailed information.

Take Placement Testing
- Students may be required to take a placement test. Criteria can be found at the Placement Test Guide.
- Students should prepare for the Accuplacer Test.

Register for Classes
- Meet with an academic advisor to discuss goals and enroll in classes.
- Obtain an ECC Student ID Card from Student Services.

Purchase Books
Books can be purchased in person at ECC–Union Bookstore or at ECC Online Bookstore.
Veterans Lounge
Located in the Donald Shook Student Center on the Union campus, East Central College has a Veterans Lounge available for all Veterans and Active Duty students. The lounge includes:
- Microwave
- Refrigerator
- TV & DVDs
- Computer & printer with FREE printing
- Military Times and Missouri Conservation Magazine subscriptions delivered monthly
