Newborn/Pediatric Nursing: How to Care for Baby 

Do you have a child that is interested in the field of newborn/pediatric Nursing? A child that is expecting a new sibling? Do you have a child that loves babies? Then this would be a great class for them! Ages 5-8.

Students will learn about newborn care from a Pediatric Nurse and one of East Central College’s own Nursing Instructors! In this four-hour class, we will discuss topics that pertain to normal newborn care. Some of the topics that will be discussed include:

• Changing diapers
• Swaddling
• How to change baby’s clothes
• How to hold baby properly
• Breastfeeding and bottle feeding
• How to soothe baby
• Vaccine education
• When to call 911

Register at least one week prior to the start of class to avoid class cancellations. Class size is limited.

Unwritten Rules – Tabletop Game Design

An exploration of game theory and tabletop game design. We will talk about how to design a simple game and how to make it fun and engaging. Each student will prototype a game as a team and then playtest it with the group. Ages 9+

Pack Your Bags – We’re Going to Europe – Cancelled by Instructor

Students will experience going to Europe without the long plane ride. You will have an introduction to languages, food, art, culture, and history. You will visit Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands, France and Italy, through foods, projects, and slide presentations for each country. Ages  6 – 10.

Science By Brewer – Class is Full

The students will get to explore many aspects of the science industry, including leadership and team building,  exploring their own entrepreneurial ideas. Exploring STEM opens a world of possibilities and will encourage the next generation of leaders. Science is fun and it is OK to noisy and messy. Students will make slime, experiment with milk, soap and food coloring, snap circuits, Oreos and scales. And still more surprises. Ages 8-10.
