Kerri Flynn
A high school social studies educator in Missouri for 25 years, Kerri Flynn taught dual credit Psychology and Sociology, Modern U.S. History, and Human Rights and Genocide, a course she developed. Flynn received the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator award in 2022 and serves as Executive Secretary for the Missouri Council of the Social Studies. She was an inaugural GenEd Teacher Fellowship Program participant and has participated in numerous professional development programs related to human rights, genocide, and WWII.
The Zone of Interest
The Zone of Interest is a 2023 historical drama film written and directed by Jonathan Glazer. Loosely based on the 2014 novel by Martin Amis, the film focuses on the life of German Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig, who live with their family in a home in the “Zone of Interest” next to the Auschwitz concentration camp. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, and won for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound.
