How has East Central College prepared for the HLC Visit?
Preparations for the upcoming site visit are ongoing. Faculty and staff have been collaborating in teams focused on each of the five Criteria for Accreditation, Assumed Practices, and Federal Compliance. These teams reviewed existing documents, collected evidence, and recommended improvements and gaps. The HLC Steering Committee began their work in Spring 2021 and is tasked with providing feedback on the work completed by the Criterion Teams. Information sessions with updates on the progress of reaffirmation are presented during every Fall and Spring In-Service.
How can I help prepare for the visit?
- Take part in the HLC Mock Visit (November 2021)
- Encourage students to complete the Student Opinion Survey (January 2022)
- Read, review, and provide comments on the draft Assurance Argument
- Participate in Campus Prep Sessions (Fall 2021 and Spring 2022):
- HLC Review Team Site Visit – Resource & Logistics Support
As our visit approaches, we will need a great deal of logistical support including prepping the campus for our visit. - HLC Review Team Site Visit – Meeting Preparations
You may be asked to attend a meeting with the site reviewers. The prep sessions will help you anticipate questions as they relate to your work and help ECC meet the Criteria for Accreditation. The campus community’s knowledge of who we are as an institution and how your unit contributes is important. Please review the ECC’s mission statement. - HLC Review Team Site Visit – Open Forum Preparations
You will be asked to participate in open forums. You are not required to attend forums, but if you choose to attend, be prepared to describe how ECC meets its mission and how your department assesses its efforts. How do both of these things support a quality learning environment? - Engage and participate in the HLC Site Visit(April 11-12, 2022)
