Radiologic Technology

The Radiologic Technology program is offered at the ECC Rolla location in partnership with the Rolla School District.  Students will learn to use state of the art equipment and ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic images in order to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease.

Radiologic Technology is a 20 month program that is accredited by the Joint Review Committee for Education in Radiologic Technology. Graduates of the Radiologic Technology program will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, a national certification examination.

Radiologic Technologists take X-rays and administer non-radioactive materials into patients bloodstream for diagnostic purposes. These professionals produce X-ray films of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems. Radiologic technologists also prepare patients for exams by explaining the procedure, removing articles through which X-rays cannot pass and positioning patients appropriately.

Employment Opportunities and Salary Ranges:

The radiologic technology profession is experiencing faster-than-average job growth. By 2020, the number of positions is expected to increase by 28 percent according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The May 2013 average annual earnings were $56,760 with the highest earnings at $78,440. The average salary for these professionals in Missouri is $24.34 per hour.
