Radiologic Technology Program Clinical Obligations


The clinical obligations regarding travel and weekend rotations for the Radiologic Technology program are as follows:

  1. The program offers a variety of clinical sites to provide the student with a well-rounded clinical experience. These sites include:  Phelps Health in Rolla, MO, Salem District Memorial Hospital in Salem, MO, Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO, Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, MO, Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO, Lake Regional Health System in Lake Ozark, MO, General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Fort Wood, MO and Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO.  Each student is required to rotate to a minimum of four different clinical sites during the program.  Students are scheduled by the clinical coordinator of the program.  First year Radiography students will begin clinical rotations in October of the first year rotating on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Second year students will be scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  During the summer clinical course, students will rotate on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for 8 weeks.  Clinical site hours vary by site, but will be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Students are scheduled at a clinical site for a minimum of two months for a rotation.  The student is provided advance notice of when their clinical rotations are scheduled for ample planning.
  2. During their second year, students are required to participate in a minimum of one weekend shift clinical rotation.  This weekend rotation can be completed at any of the clinical sites and will be scheduled with the clinical coordinator.  When the student completes a weekend rotation, they will have the Friday before and the Monday after the weekend shift off.  This is to maintain no more than 40 hours a week.  The student is provided advance notice of when their weekend clinical rotations are scheduled for ample planning.
  3. Students are expected to sign in and out on a school provided timesheet to document their clinical rotations. Each day of the rotation will be signed or initialed by a registered technologist.  Timesheets must be turned into the clinical coordinator at the end of the rotation.
