Access/Disability Services
Access Services at East Central College provides services for students who have documented disabilities.
To qualify for services, students must self-identify to the Access office and provide documentation of their disability. A student may submit this application at any time during the semester; however, the college recommends submitting the application at least six weeks prior to the beginning of the semester of attendance in order to ensure that any and all reasonable accommodations shall be available on the first day of class. Some accommodations may take longer to arrange, such as alternative text formats (2 months prior notification may be required for alternative textbooks) and in-class note-takers. The college will make a good faith effort in providing an approved accommodation or any alternative until the final approved accommodation can be arranged.
Follow the steps below to receive Access Services:
- Fill out the Access Application
- Submit documentation of your disability
- Register for classes
- Schedule an appointment (each semester) to meet with Access personnel to complete and discuss forms
- Please note: Alternative textbook accommodations may depend on the material and the publisher of the material.
To schedule an exam using accommodations:
- Test requests must be made 48 hours before test day by filling out the Schedule a Test Form
- Confirm test with accommodations with your instructor
- Notify Access Services immediately if any changes are made after the test has been scheduled
Mission Statement:
The Access Services Department at East Central College strives to provide an equal opportunity to learning by implementing appropriate accommodations. These accommodations may include but are not necessarily limited to, the use of adaptive technology, environmental modifications, alternative testing arrangements, notetakers, and the use of prerecorded media.
Our staff is here to help students grow personally and assist them in assuming individual responsibility for their academic, career, and life goals.
We firmly believe that everyone deserves equal opportunity and access to higher education.
Report a Physical or Digital Accessibility Barrier:
Please report any physical or digital accessibility barriers on ECC’s campus to wellness@eastcentral.edu. We’re committed to making the college experience the best it can be for all students, regardless of ability. By encouraging our community to report any accessibility barriers, we’re strengthening our efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for everyone.
