“Night Music” by Chamber Project St. Louis – November 11

This group embraces the communicative nature of chamber music to create interactive performances.  This concert will feature the warm sounds of flute, clarinet, strings and harp in works from Pulitzer Prize-Winning American Composer Caroline Shaw to Hungarian Composer Dohnanyi.  The concert is anchored by the work entitled, A Night Piece by Arthur Foote.

Mid-Missouri Fine Arts Society Annual Member Show – November 14-December 9

The Mid-Missouri Fine Arts Society annually presents their artworks at ECC.  Members work in a variety of media, including pastels, graphite, watercolor, oil paint, photography and ceramics.

The Art Exhibition will take place November 14 through December 9, 2016

The exhibit will be located in the Art Gallery which is on the 1st floor or Hansen Hall

  • An Art Reception will be held on Friday, November 18  5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

East Central College Celebrates International Education Week

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education to promote international education and exchange worldwide. Held Nov. 14-18, it highlights programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in our country.

East Central College is proudly celebrating the week with a variety of activities. All are free and open to the community.

On Monday, Nov. 14, Suzanne Lelaurin, International Institute Senior Vice President for Individuals and Families, will present “Refugees: Who they are and why they are good for America.” The event will take place in the Health and Sciences building, room 100 at 5:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, ECC’s “Soups and Stories” series begins! Come hear firsthand experiences from international students from Ghana, Nigeria, Bosnia and Ireland, and enjoy soup and dessert at the same time! This series also runs on Wednesday and Thursday.  It is held in the Donald Shook Student Center Café from 12 – 1 p.m.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, Pablo Arroyo, International Trade Specialist with University of Missouri Extension Small Business & Technology Development Center, will speak about U.S.–Puerto Rico relations in the Health and Sciences building, room 100.

The week will wrap up on Friday, Nov. 18 with the St. Louis Osuwa Taiko Workshop and Concert. This unique group performs and teaches the art of Japanese ensemble drumming. The pre-concert workshop starts at 6:30 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Both events are in the John Edson Anglin Performing Arts Center.

Dealing with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia – A thoughtful discussion with geriatric specialist Dr. Gregory Zydiak. Dr. Zydiak currently practices in Webster Groves and specializes in internal medicine and geriatrics.
