This musical is “based on the events in the Newfoundland town of Gander during the week following the September 11 attacks, when 38 planes, carrying approximately 7,000 passengers, were ordered to land unexpectedly at Gander International Airport. The characters in the musical are based on (and in most cases share the names of) actual Gander residents and stranded travelers they housed and fed. The musical has been received by audiences and critics as a cathartic reminder of the capacity for human kindness in even the darkest of times and the triumph of humanity over hate” (Wikipedia). You can read more about the show here.
The Art of Listening is a uniquely interactive conversation-concert that takes audience members on a collaborative quest for musical meaning. Both accessible to beginners and engaging to experienced music lovers, each session of this workshop-style concert takes the audience on a deep dive into the rich inner world of a chosen masterwork.
Christine Brewer, named one of the top 20 sopranos of all time (BBC Music), is one of the most celebrated concert singers of our time. She is a Grammy Award-winning American soprano and her appearances in opera, concert, and recital are marked by her own unique timbre — warm and brilliant, combined with a vibrant personality and emotional honesty reminiscent of the great sopranos of the past.
