FAQs of Grant Funding
What if I already have a specific grant opportunity I’d like to pursue?
Contact Joel Doepker for assistance and he’ll help you as much as possible with the application, proposal, and submission depending on other projects.
I’m capable of completing a grant application, why can’t I do it myself?
The Grants office not only assists with proposal writing, submission and management but also serves as the central repository for College competitive grant activities.
Following the grant proposal process ensures the grant proposal is noted and discussed as there may be college fiscal and human resources needed as part of the grant eligibility.
Grant agreements are legally binding contracts and the College wants to have a streamlined process to protect the employee and the Grant entity.
The grant is due in a few days. Should I pursue it?
Grant proposals are rarely developed in a few days, and mistakes or oversights can occur when the process isn’t followed in a timely and thoughtful manner.
Contact Joel Doepker to discuss the options. Worthwhile grants take time to research, develop, and submit.
The grant is for a small amount. Do I need to go through the process?
Despite the size, a grant takes time. The Grants office needs to be involved since a grant is a legally binding contract that likely requires consideration of College human and/or financial resources. College employees can’t be expected to understand grant management and auditing requirements.
The Business office works with the Grants office to ensure the grant project’s objectives and activities follow standard practices.
