Senior Expo & Health Fair - East Central College

The 2026 Senior Expo and Health Fair will be Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 9am-noon, in the Donald Shook Student Center. This free event will feature many local vendors.

The purpose of the event is to provide information to adults 55 years old and over, promote health awareness through education and prevention, and to provide information about available programs and services in our area.

Area seniors, who are 55 and older, can receive free health screenings, listen to speakers on various topics and win prizes. The event is in the College’s gym. Elevator and shuttle services from parking lots to the building will be available for our patrons.

What to Expect

Expect over 50 vendors, including health care and human services, local businesses, not-for-profits, community clubs, and service organizations.

Balance and strength
Thermal scan for neuropathy
Vision screening
Stroke risk assessment
Blood glucose test
Glaucoma and color blindness screening
Grip strength testing

9:15 a.m.	WashU Medicine Occupational Therapy	“Promoting Healthy Aging Through Accessible Exercise”
This session is designed to support older adults in maintaining independence, improving overall well-being, and enhancing quality of life through safe and effective physical activity. By combining evidence-based recommendations with practical strategies, participants will be empowered to confidently engage in exercise that fits their individual needs and abilities.

10:25 a.m.	Missouri SHIP	“What’s new with Medicare for 2026”
Exciting changes are coming for Medicare in 2026, especially for those on Medicare Advantage and Part D plans. A key update from the Inflation Reduction Act will help keep drug prices in check by capping out-of-pocket costs for seniors on certain high-cost medications. The Missouri SHIP presentation will provide information about these enhancements to help everyone understand the updates.
11:00 a.m.	At Home Care	“Home is where the heart is.”
I will discuss the various aspects of home care, funding, what is provided and the resources that will help with home care. The difference between home health and home care and how patients do better at home.
