An informational meeting for families with children wanting to participate in the East Central Children’s Chorale will be held at the college Monday, August 31. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 101 of Hansen Hall on the ECC campus in Union and should last one hour. Children should accompany their parents.
The Chorale is a treble choir for children in grades three through eight. Choir directors Malinda Thompson and Sheila Baer will be on hand to review plans for the fall.
Rehearsals will be held at ECC Mondays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. beginning September 14. Cost to participate for the fall semester is $60, plus a $15 uniform fee.
“We focus on musical enrichment including music reading and vocal production,” noted Dr. Timothy Sexton, artistic director of the Chorale and head of vocal music at the college. He stated that the group performs locally several times throughout the semester.
The mission of the East Central Children’s Chorale is to promote musical literacy through high quality music education and to demonstrate this learning through the achievement of artistic excellence in performance.
