The Film and Lecture Series is hosting a Poetry Reading on April 28 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in HS 100 and there will also be a Zoom link to stream the event.

Guest Poets

Lisa Haag is a poet, essayist, and freelance writer who also teaches writing courses at college and graduate levels. Her work has appeared in Passages North, Hayden’s Ferry, Spoon River Poetry Review, Spillway, The Lyric, The Lindenwood Review, The Examined Life, Crack the Spine, Highlights for Children, and others, as well as The Animal Anthology Project, Out of the Depths, and Bigger than They Appear. Her chapbook, A Benign Sort of Cannibalism, won the 2013 Clockwise Poetry Chapbook Competition, and her essay “On Sea Cucumbers and Flying Solo” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her latest work in progress is an essay about her travels in the Xinjiang region of China and current events in that region.

Katie Holtmeyer lives, writes, and teaches in Missouri. Her work has appeared in 3 Moon Magazine, Words & Whispers, Stanchion Zine, The Shore, and Jupiter Review, among others. Her debut collection, She Asked Me Where, is forthcoming with Unsolicited Press in early 2024.

The FBBB takes traditional New Orleans brass tunes and
sprinkles in their own brand of special Saint Louis musical
magic. At any given concert, you will hear
some Chicago blues, Memphis soul,
Southern rock, and St. Louis R&B.
