The 16th Annual Senior Expo and Health Fair

Gymnasium, Donald Shook Student Center

Join us for this free event as we welcome 60 vendors!  The purpose of the expo is to provide information to adults 55 years old and over, promote health awareness through education and prevention, and to provide information about available programs and services in our area.

People 55+ can get free health screenings, listen to speakers on various topics and win prizes!  Elevator and shuttle services from parking lots to the building will be available for our patrons.

9:15 a.m. Missouri SHIP “Cost Saving Programs”
From premiums to copays and deductibles, it can feel so difficult to afford health insurance especially with rising costs all around us. In this presentation we’ll tell you about programs that can help you save on your Medicare costs. Expect to hear about programs like the Medicare Savings Program, Extra Help, and more.


9:50 a.m. MERCY “Aging Well, Aging Healthy”
Join us for a discussion of topics such as preventative health, the importance of early detection, change of life and after, best nutritional supplements, and post menopause.


10:25 a.m. Franklin County Health Department “Planning for Disaster, Ready in 3”
Endorsed by the American Red Cross, the State Emergency Management Agency and Missouri’s Office of Homeland Security, Ready in 3 focuses on three steps you can take to prepare for many kinds of emergencies. Many members of the senior community experience access and functional needs that require specific planning when making household plans in the event of an emergency. This presentation will discuss the 3 steps everyone can take to prepare for different emergencies. This presentation will also discuss special considerations for seniors and those caring for seniors such as people who use oxygen equipment, people receiving dialysis, and individuals receiving in-home and home health care services.


11:00 a.m. Axes Physical Therapy “Decrease Falls, Improve Your Balance”
This presentation will discuss falls and balance. Participants will learn why as we age, there is an increased risk of falling and why our balance declines. We will also discuss the role dizziness plays in balance and falls and what you can do in order to decrease your risk of falls and improve your balance.


11:35 a.m. Rural Parish Clinic “Oral Health and Hygiene for Seniors”
Presenting on the importance of regular oral health care particularly during the senior years of life and how it affects your overall health.

East Central College’s Music Department will be kicking off their concert series with a free, outdoor music festival.  Bands in order of performance will be:   Woodshine, Pamwe marimba band, and Funky Butt Brass Band.

All proceeds from the festival will go towards manufacturing scholarships.
