Upcoming Classes

Empowering Minds and Body

Each class will be a combination of mindfulness techniques and beSati (an empowering kids fitness program). We will engage in lessons and take steps to improve focus and concentration, increase self-awareness, reduce stress, and develop empathy. We’ll practice basic mindfulness techniques and reflect on them and how they can benefit our daily life. Then students will be guided to an understanding about choosing their thoughts, words and actions to generate a positive state of being through breathing, uplifting movements, and the use of warrior words. Each day will end with a challenge to take positive action. Ages 6-13.

Please bring your mat to class!

Fishing – Class Is Full

Have you thought about a career in sport fishing? Students will gain knowledge in the world of fishing for catfish and other species. The instructor will describe multiple areas for you to focus your attention and energy on, instruct on angling methods, identify multiple rigging methods, and bait. Learn to analyze nature’s effects on fishing, outline water clarity and lures that are best for offsetting the color changes, and apply boat and bank positioning. The instructor will summarize Spring/Fall/Winter staging areas, ways to locate fish in different bodies of water. Learn to analyze structure and how to fish each situation. Ages 13 – 18.

Teen Deputy Summer Academy

Are you interested in learning more about law enforcement? Join the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department to explore a week long program to explore what it takes to become a deputy sheriff and the skills you will learn at the law enforcement academy. You will learn about Constitutional Law, traffic, ethics, SWAT, K9 and so much more!

Open to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.

Pick up an application at the Sheriff’s Office at 500 W. 2nd Street in Rolla. All registration and application is through them. Application must be completed by July 1, 2022.

Advanced Robotics and Engineering – Class is Full

Take robotics to the next level with the LEGO® Mindstorms base kit! We will advance through different levels of programming with sound, light, touch and ultrasonic sensor to master the programming of basic movements, and then progress to more difficult challenges. Our goal is to make science, technology, engineering and mathematics irresistibly FUN. You must be 11-15 years old to attend this camp.

All Things You Cannot See

Students will learn to use microscopes to see the invisible world that surrounds us. You will learn about micro-organisms (bacteria, viruses, and other) and have a chance to use scientific equipment. Ages 9 – 13.

Cardboard Sculpture – Class is Full

Students will use recycled cardboard to build small and full-scale sculptures. Processes will include planning, modeling, assembly, and finishing. You will practice planning, testing methods, study of structural form, spatial imagination, synthesis of shapes, and decorative media. Ages 9-18.

Culinary Arts-Pizza from Scratch – Class is Full

This class will learn to make their own dough and sauce for their pizza, as well as a trip to greenhouse. Students will see where the tomatoes, that will be used in the sauce come from, along with other toppings. Students will be able to taste their wonderful creations at the pizza party at the end of the class on Tuesday!  (Subject to slight changes.) Ages 5-10.

NO FLIP FLOPS! Students, please wear tennis shoes.

Junior Leadership

Junior leadership raises the awareness to youth, the importance of good friends, supporting others, how to intentionally nurture an environment of mutual trust and respect. Participants will be inspired and equipped with powerful knowledge to create effective and sustainable leadership practices. You will be guided through this engaging learning experience featuring live team building events and and discussion of key concepts, with the opportunity to ask questions. Presentations will bring the learning to life and then you will have the opportunity to participate in interactive chats, polls and other small-group activities.

Picture Yourself As A Nurse – Class is Full

This summer is the time to explore the field of nursing and our nursing camp is a great way to get started! Learn the qualities of a nurse, basic nursing skills, first aid, CPR training, and much more! Learn these skills from Professional Registered Nurses.   Ages 8-16.
