Junior Welding (1) – CLASS IS FULL

Have you heard about welding? Are you interested in the endless possibilities that you can do with it? Here’s your chance to learn about welding and obtain these hands-on welding skills. You will be observing demonstrations, learning safety and welding in a state of the art welding lab, with the ECC Welding instructor. (Ages 13-18)

Gain the skills needed in today’s workplace or use at home!

*Registration includes welding jacket, gloves and helmet/face guard will be provided, if you do not already have them.

Robotics and Computer Programming (1) – CLASS IS FULL

Students will have an awesome time building robots that can navigate obstacle courses and respond to a multitude of sensors, including motion, touch, and sound. Our students work with the LEGO® Mindstorms base kit to master the programming of basic movements, and then progress to more difficult challenges. Our goal is to make science, technology, engineering and mathematics irresistibly FUN. You must be 9-12 years old to attend this camp.

Amazing Anatomy 1

Have fun learning the basic anatomy of the skeleton through a variety of activities. Learn the basic bones in your body from an ECC Anatomy and Physiology instructor. Ages 5-7.

*Students must wear closed toed shoes, long pants/skirt to the ankle to be in the lab room.

Culinary Arts-Making Pies (1) – CLASS IS FULL

This class will learn to make their own pie/pastry crust, add pie filling and bake.  Students will be able to taste their wonderful creations at the end of the class!  (Subject to slight changes.) Ages 5-10.

NO FLIP FLOPS! Students, please wear tennis shoes.

Fiber Crafts – CLASS IS FULL

The students will design and decorate a variety of fashion articles and accessories using painting, weaving, and other techniques. They will study fiber art traditions, 2-D design fundamentals, use of color and material, a Cricut maker and other decorative media. This class will be fun and enriching for ages 9-18.

Students will need to bring a t-shirt to paint. Preferably a light, plain, solid color, white is best.

Register at least one week prior to the start of class to avoid class cancellations. Class size is limited.

Lots of laughter! Explorations in improvisational comedy by using: theater games including acting out quick scenes, creatively inventing new uses for odd objects, movement, expression, playing off other people and timing. Laughter and fun are our goals! Ages 8-12.

Newborn/Pediatric Nursing: How to Care for Baby (1) – CLASS IS FULL

Do you have a child that is interested in the field of newborn/pediatric Nursing? A child that is expecting a new sibling? Do you have a child that loves babies? Then this would be a great class for them! Ages 5-7.

Students will learn about newborn care from a Pediatric Nurse and one of East Central College’s own Nursing Instructors! In this four-hour class, we will discuss topics that pertain to normal newborn care. Some of the topics that will be discussed include:

  • Changing diapers
  • Swaddling
  • How to change baby’s clothes
  • How to hold baby properly
  • Breastfeeding and bottle feeding
  • How to soothe baby
  • Vaccine education
  • When to call 911

Introduction to Kayaking – CLASS IS FULL
Join us for an afternoon on the water for a basic kayaking program at Towell Lake located within Little Prairie Conservation Area northeast of Rolla. Participants will learn information and safety about kayaking during the ground school portion of the class, then take to the water for paddling instruction and practice. Ages 13-18.

* Classes will be CANCELLED if we encounter inclement weather — rain or extreme heat
