Shanee Haynes

Shanee HaynesShanee Haynes is an Assistant Professor of Communication at East Central College where she has taught since 2009. She has a Master of Science in Communications from Lindenwood University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from UM-St. Louis. She teaches Mass Media Communications, Oral Communications, and Public Speaking. She is co-chair of the Civic and Community Engagement Coalition and coordinator for Month of Service at ECC. Shanee is currently finishing her Doctor of Education from UM-St. Louis. Her dissertation is titled: Student-Faculty Engagement Solutions for Retention of Racially Minoritized Students. Her research identified strategies to increase student-faculty interactions to combat low retention rates for first-year racially minoritized students. Her research will be presented at the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education peer-reviewed national conference in March 2024. Shanee was awarded a sabbatical while she completes her EdD for the Spring 2024 semester. The purpose of her sabbatical is to complete her degree and develop workshops for ECC faculty that align with her research study’s recommendations.
