Summer Reading (ENG 040) Bridge

In this Summer Reading Bridge, you will meet in-person once a week with the instructor, Jake Little. Those meeting times are flexible to your schedule and will require you to practice reading strategies. In addition, there will be online lessons and quizzes. Reading Bridge includes helpful strategies, practice, discussions, and vocabulary that will assist students seeking to achieve college-level reading abilities.

This Bridge is a refresher course that has been specially designed for students who are relatively close to testing out of the semester-long course. The goal is to improve students’ ability to read at the college level in a way that saves them time and money.

When students complete the course, they may retake the Accuplacer free of charge. To test out of ENG 080, student must earn a minimum 250 on the Accuplacer.

I am a writer, editor, and educator who has taught college-level writing for over ten years. I have also served as the Managing Editor of Brevity and other nationally renowned literary magazines.

When I’m not helping students with their reading and writing, I enjoy watching bad movies with friends, playing video games, and reading science-fiction and fantasy novels.
