Newborn/Pediatric Nursing: How to Care for Baby 1

Do you have a child that is interested in the field of newborn/pediatric nursing? A child that is expecting a new sibling? Do you have a child that loves babies? Then this would be a great class for them!  We have a limited number of babies for classroom use, so your child is invited to bring their favorite “baby” doll to class to practice with. (Ages 8-10)

Students will learn about newborn care from a Pediatric Nurse and one of East Central College’s own Nursing Instructors! In this class, we will discuss topics that pertain to normal newborn care. Some of the topics that will be discussed include:

  • Giving baby a checkup
  • Changing diapers
  • Swaddling
  • How to hold baby properly
  • Breastfeeding and bottle feeding
  • Bathing newborns
