Certified Medication Technician (CMT)

Certified Medication Technicians are trained to set up medications, administer them to the proper patient/resident and document administration in the medical record. A CMT functions under the supervision of a professional nurse within parameters of State approved credentialing. CMTs are responsible for providing direct patient care.

This program meets the classroom requirement (60 hours) of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements for Certified Medication Technician.

The student will experience 8-16 hours of job shadowing with a licensed RN, LPN or CMT and 8 hours of clinical practice in an approved facility, under the direct supervision of the instructor.

Upon completion of both classroom and clinical components, the student will be eligible to take the state exam to become a Certified Medication Technician through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Class size is limited to 10 students.
