Classified Staff Association

Message from the CSA President

We still need:

  • Are you on a committee? Please let us know, so we can update our information.
  • Need ideas on how committees/departments can share monthly information with associations or the campus as a whole. Please email Denise Walker with any ideas you may have.

The Classified Staff Association comprises approximately 100 hourly employees across campus who aim to promote professionalism, ethics, and excellence among members while enhancing the welfare of students, employees, and the community through various initiatives, including awards, events, charity drives, and scholarships. It fosters cooperation with the college, provides representation, facilitates continuous learning, advocates for members on professional matters, and promotes camaraderie among its members.

This page will be your go-to resource for CSA updates, including volunteer opportunities on committees, upcoming fundraisers and events, spotlight awards, professional development prospects, and much more.

CSA Spotlight Award

The mission of the Spotlight Award is to recognize a classified staff member each semester who has gone above and beyond their role at East Central College.  They are nominated and then elected by votes from ECC employees for their commitment to excellence for the betterment of students, faculty, and staff.

Spring 2026 Recipient Julie Beck

1. Julie Beck is the program assistant for Allied Health, and to say she keeps things running would be an understatement. The Allied Health office is a fast-paced, often chaotic environment filled with students and instructors from multiple programs, and Julie is the one who somehow keeps it all on track. She’s the “train conductor” who makes sure everything runs smoothly, no matter how busy things get.

Whenever someone has a question or needs help, Julie is the go-to person. She always seems to have the answer—or knows exactly how to find it—and she does it with patience and a positive attitude. What truly sets her apart, though, is how she treats students. Julie cares for them like family, consistently going above and beyond to support, guide, and encourage them. Her dedication and commitment make a lasting impact on students, faculty, and staff alike.

2. The nursing department, and many other allied health programs, could not run on a day-to-day basis without the knowledge, support, and dedication of Julie Beck. She goes above and beyond in her role and is always willing to help when needed. I truly believe she does not understand how valued and appreciated her work is within her team. Thank you, Julie!

Fundraisers

The Classified Staff Association has often held two fundraising events per year, one during the fall semester and the other during the spring semester. The funds raised go towards our Scholarship fund, which is awarded to a non-traditional student with at least a 2.5 GPA or higher, and/or to our General fund, which supplies gifts/awards to CSA members, the CSA celebration event each summer, Falcon Fest, or supplies as needed, etc.

We had an AMAZING Spring 25 Penny Wars, and because of all the wonderful contributions and employees, we raised the bar again with another record of $1820.54! We can not thank everyone enough for the fun competition and for making this such a great fundraiser!
