Changes to FAFSA 2024–2025

Changes are coming to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to make it more user-friendly for students and their parents.

FAFSA is the form you need to fill out to apply for financial aid from the federal government, state aid programs, and institutions. Each year, over 13 million students who file the FAFSA receive more than $120 billion in grants, work-study, and student loans from the U.S. Department of Education.

This year, the 2024–25 FAFSA form will be available December 31st, which is later than the usual date of October 1. Once it becomes available, the form can be accessed at FAFSA.gov.

To receive an estimated Financial Aid offer in March 2024, the 2024-2025 FAFSA must be completed by February 1, 2024.
