ECC Foundation Hosts ‘Gala in a Box’ for 2022 Friends of the Foundation

Due to the pandemic, the East Central College Foundation had to get creative in hosting its largest fundraiser to provide scholarships for students. Instead of a dinner with live entertainment, the Friends of the Foundation event this year transformed into a “Gala in a Box” filled with items created or donated by students and alumni.

“We decided to celebrate our students past and present in spirit this year,” said Bridgette Kelch, executive director. “We are bringing the party to you with a special box filled with edibles, wine, art, and more. The support we receive for the Friends campaign provides hundreds of scholarships and opens the doors of opportunity for student success at ECC,” Kelch added.

Since 2002, the ECC Foundation has awarded $2.8 million in scholarships to students in need.

It’s not too late to donate and receive the “Gala in a Box.” Items include:

  • Red wine, donated by Jerry and Robert Mueller of Röbller Vineyard & Winery. Jerry, Robert and Robert’s departed wife Lois and took Continuing Education classes at ECC.
  • Chocolate confections prepared by the ECC Culinary Art students.
  • Notecards featuring the artwork of two ECC art students, Kate Shelton and Madison Barbarick and ECC employee and alum, Amanda Studdard.
  • Adult coloring book featuring beautiful and elaborate designs illustrated by ECC alum Janelle Dimmett.
  • A candy cane ornament welded by ECC welding students.
  • Chip clip provided by ECC alum Dave Kell and his wife Jane, who own the Washington business Legacy Embroidery and Screen Printing/MVP Apparel.
  • Luggage tag and sticker calendar provided by the ECC Foundation office.
  • The box itself was donated by ECC alum Mary Dobsch who owns and is president of The Chest Inc. based in Washington.

Gala boxes will be delivered to those making donations of $125 or more.

Donations can be made via cash, check, online or via Venmo!  Franklin Falcon is on Venmo at @Franklin-Falcon-ECC or call 636-584-6505.
