Clay Play Days 2

Students will focus on hand building functional and decorative pottery using a slab building technique. They will learn about underglaze and get to explore their artistic freedoms, encouraging imaginative exploration and creative risk taking with design, shape, and glaze. (Ages 8 – 14)

ECC Teen Theatre Troupe 

The ECC Teen Theatre Troupe will spend two weeks immersing themselves into the rehearsal process for a one-act performance on August 9th at 2 pm. During these two weeks, students will also engage in activities that sharpen their improvisation and acting skills. We will dive into character analysis, script subtext, vocal projection, memorization, blocking stage directions, and so much more. Backstage theatre work is important too! Students will learn the basics of working backstage by acquiring props and set pieces for their production. They will take an active roll in bringing their show to life in this collaborative process. Their performance will be open and free to the public, invite your family and friends! (Ages 13 – 18 years)

American Sign Language 3

Students will learn about the Deaf Culture and the basics of American Sign Language. Students will practice signs and facial expressions to help communicate. Students will be able to communicate with a deaf person. Ages 13-18.

EV3 Robotics 

This summer course is designed to teach older, beginning robotics students how to experiment with the application of simple machines in a robotic environment. Each student will be assigned his/her own LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 robot to use. Participants will learn the core concepts of robot design and EV3 programming. This program is designed for the students who love to tinker and build things that move. Brought to you by Kaleidoscope Discovery Center. Ages 10-14.

Experience Earth’s Surface 1

Children will learn about watersheds and maps using an interactive augmented reality sandbox. Kids will be able to play with the sand by pushing it around and make observations as a map is projected onto it. They will get to learn about how water interacts with the land and make connections from what they see happening in the sandbox to what they see happening in the environmnet around them. (Ages 5-8)

Video Game Design 1

Juggling for Beginners 2

Students will learn the basics of juggling. It’s good for improving concentration and relieving stress as well as being easier than you think. You will learn the basic throw, scoop and throw-catch in order to juggle 3 balls/beanbags. Ages 12-18.

Experience Earth’s Surface 2

Kids will learn about watershed function and topographic maps using an interactive augmented reality sandbox. As kids play with the sand, the topography of the sand’s surface is projected on to it and will update as kids create new landscapes. Kids will understand how to read topographic maps and how water flows on a landscape. They will also learn what makes a watershed, and how factors in their everyday life impact watershed health. (Ages 9-12)
