Juggling for Beginners 1

Students will learn the basics of juggling. It’s good for improving concentration and relieving stress as well as being easier than you think. You will learn the basic throw, scoop and throw-catch in order to juggle 3 balls/beanbags. Ages 12-18.

Escape Room: Post-Apocalyptic 9

Long after the nuclear apocalypse, your group of wasteland wanderers is searching for a way to purify the radioactive water you depend on. Some clues in an old computer have led you to this ancient, crumbling bomb shelter. Can you solve a scientific mystery and find the water purifier without triggering a meltdown or getting sealed in the vault… forever? Gather a team of 4-6 players and sign up together! Ages 13 – 18.

Culinary Arts-Making Pies 4

This class will learn to make their own pie/pastry crust, and make their own pie filling and bake.  Students will be able to taste their wonderful creations at the end of the class!  (Subject to slight changes.) Ages 13-18.

 

NO FLIP FLOPS! Students, please wear tennis shoes.

*As this is a commercial kitchen, participants will possibly be using knives and large equipment with proper supervision and we ask that a preemptive discussion about safety and following instruction be had by parents and child. NO FLIP FLOPS! Students, please wear tennis shoes.

Outdoor Photography and Basic Editing 2

Students will learn techniques for doing basic outdoor digital photography. A portion of the class will be hands-on photography along with some very basic editing done on photos taken that day. It will be best if the student has a hand-held camera that has a removable SD memory card. There will be outdoor activity, weather permitting, students will visit tall grass prairie plots on ECC campus to photograph landscapes, flowers, grasses, and insects. The class will happen rain or shine, unless it is pouring rain, a light jacket or poncho might be needed. Shoes may get muddy or wet. Ages 11-16.

Students must bring a SD card – no other format – and it must be blank. Students should wear long pants and appropriate shoes for walking in tall grass (no open-toed shoes, sandals or flip-flops).  Insect repellent is a must and students should bring their own, especially if they are sensitive to it.

Junior Welding 3

Have you heard about welding? Are you interested in the endless possibilities that you can do with it? Here’s your chance to learn about welding and obtain these hands-on welding skills. You will be observing demonstrations, learning safety and welding in a state of the art welding lab, with the ECC Welding instructor. (Ages 13-18)

Gain the skills needed in today’s workplace or use at home!

Colors Galore

Exploration of color through various mediums and techniques. What is color? Why is the sky blue? Students will produce an art piece per day. Paints, crayons, paper, scissors, and other supplies will be used to achieve our Works of ART! (Ages 8-14)

Crochet for Beginners

Learn the basic stitches of crochet as well as some basic techniques! Stitches the students will learn include the chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet. They will also learn how to crochet a magic ring and a granny square, as well as how to read crochet patterns. (Ages 10-18)

Culinary Arts-Pizza from Scratch 1

This class will learn to make their own dough for their pizza. Students will add sauce along with other toppings of their choice to make the perfect pizza as they imagine. Students will be able to taste their wonderful creations at the pizza party at the end of the class!  (Subject to slight changes.) Ages 9-12.

Students will aid in kitchen clean-up before being dismissed.

International Patterns

Students will learn about the many patterns used in Islamic, Asian, and Celtic decorative art. They will design their own projects. They will learn about history and cultures, Mathematics of symmetry, pattern-making, 2-D design fundamentals, use of color, and decorative media. Ages 9 – 18.

Dance the Tail: Chocolat Camp

Join Ballet 314’s professional ballet dancer and a student leader from Devine Performing Arts as they lead “campers” in activities, dance choreography, and reading – bringing the pages of the bilingual Spanish/English story of “Chocolat and The Master (of my Heart)” by Doris E. Lugo Ramírez to life through dance!

On the last day of the series, campers will present the choreography that they have learned in a dance performance for their grown ups to a traditional Puerto Rican Bomba composed especially for our ballet “Chocolat” by Rafaél Hernandez Baez. (Ages 5-8)

Students should come in athletic wear and shoes that are easy to dance in! (Sneakers preferred).
