Accuplacer

Placement testing is administered on a walk-in basis during our open hours.

*Placement testing stops at 11am on Fridays due to system maintenance.

Accuplacer is an untimed, computerized test used to evaluate skill levels in reading, writing, and math. It is best to arrange 2-3 hours of availability for testing. If you are not finished testing before closing time, Accuplacer offers a “Save and Finish Later” feature.

East Central College uses multiple measures to advise and enroll students into reading, writing, and math classes. If placement testing is required, please be sure to check-in with Student Services to determine the appropriate test sections required.

Get the Accuplacer Study App for official practice tests with immediate feedback and answer explanations.

Tutoring for the Accuplacer is also available through the Learning Center. For more study materials and information about scheduling a tutoring appointment, visit The Learning Center’s website.

Accuplacer for Other Institutions

If you are a student wanting to take the Accuplacer for another institution at the Union location, a Remote Network/Virtual Voucher must be created by the institution you are applying for admission. The testing voucher will be sent to the Testing Center. Appointments are not required, but it is recommended to reserve 1 hour per test section for testing as the Accuplacer is an untimed test. Please review our current semester hours and plan accordingly.

Off Campus Testing

If you are an out-of-state student or are unable to travel to the Union campus for placement testing, you may be able to test at an approved Accuplacer testing location. Please contact the testing center for more information about this service.

For information regarding proctoring fees, please see Testing For Other Institutions.
