Timelines for Students


The admissions timeline is designed to provide prospective high school students an outline of the steps that will aid students in being successful upon entering college. Students can still register for classes outside of these recommended timelines. These are recommendations for early admission, optimal scholarship availability, best class availability, and overall student success.

High School Juniors

  • Fall
    • Meet with college representatives
      • Attend your local high school college fair, and/or the ECC College Fair (in the fall)
      • Meet with the college representatives that visit your high school
    • Prepare for the ACT Exam
  • Spring
    • Set up your senior year high school schedule
      • Register and take any and all available dual credit classes
    • Meet with your guidance counselor to discuss college preparation and arranging college visits
    • Take the ACT
  • Summer
    • Attend a summer camp in your academic area of interest
    • Register for a dual enrollment college class to get a head-start
    • Visit a college campus and take a tour

 

High School Seniors

  • Fall
    • Take the ACT again
    • Come see ECC, whether it is for a group special event or an individual campus visit
    • Submit the following before December 1st for priority consideration
  • Spring
    • File your taxes and complete the FAFSA
      • Attend a Financial Aid Night at your high school or one of ECC’s FAFSA Nights to receive assistance
    • Complete the Placement Test if required
    • Register for summer and/or fall classes
    • Graduate from high school
    • Request that your final high school transcript is sent
  • Summer
    • Attend any summer classes that you registered for
    • Attend New Student Orientation
    • Fall classes begin in August
